In the bachelor's realm of Duchamp’s large glass hover three oculist witnesses. If their names were form derived they might be called Ray, Concentric & Spoke. This is the story of Spoke.
A mirror was chosen to reflect an observer. Its spokes were revealed through a removal process: the paint backing was chemically removed and the excess silver was washed away.
The body was derived from a geometrical progression of the mirror’s form about its diameter. This is realized in multiple layers of poplar and aluminum bound by epoxy membranes.
